Our Focus

Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) of Virginia and the 8 Chapters under its direction work together as a church-assist organization focused on evangelizing and teaching children ages 5-14. Simply stated, CEF of Virginia and the Greater Richmond Chapter train ministry teams who volunteer from within the congregation of sponsoring churches to conduct evangelistic events usually outside church walls.

Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Richmond serves churches and individuals by equipping them to fulfill the great commission. We encourage them to be an ambassador for Christ, equipping them to reconcile the lost with the message of the Gospel.

CEF of Greater Richmond has several different ministries for children such as the Good News Club, 5-Day Club and CYIA. We host several events through these ministries thereby serving the churches with proven children’s ministry training, materials, and methods.

“And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.“

Deuteronomy 6:7

Our History

Child Evangelism Fellowship was founded in 1937 by Rev. J. Irvin Overholtzer, a man with a God given vision for boys and girls in need of the Savior. His vision continues to live on today.
CEF reaches the children with the Gospel so that “not one of these little ones should perish.” (Matthew 18:14)

CEF is presently involved in over 170 countries, with over 1,400 staff members. Our emphasis overseas is to develop national workers and leaders. CEF is active in every state and province in North America.
